Custom-Fitting at Clays Golf Centre

Here at Clays we offer an extensive range of Cutom Built Clubs from the leading names in golf. Believe it or not, there are still some golfers who underestimate the importance of custom fit golf clubs.

It is the simple fact that we are all unique, we are all different shapes and sizes, and this makes custom fitting so vital for a better golf game. Playing golf with the incorrect equipment would be just as difficult as walking a golf course in a pair of shoes that don't fit.

It is because we feel so passionately about custom fitting that we offer a free of charge service, giving you complete impartial advice with no obligation.

Clays offer custom-fitting of all irons and woods for all major golf brands. Each custom fitting session lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour and utilises the Flightscope Kudu Radar to analyse ball speed, club head speed, launch angle, spin ratio and overall carry and distance - all of which combine to ensure that your clubs are the best fit for your individual needs.

You'll recieve the red carpet treatment from beginning to end in your fitting as we have invested in some of the finest technology around to give you clarity, simplicity and the truth about your golf game. this coupled with the experience and knowledge of our professional staff will be the key to you playing better golf.

There is so much misinformation about custom fitting.

Lots of retailers claim to offer custom fitting, but actually they are only offering a very poor watered down version. True custom fitting simply cannot be achieved by filling in an online form, or by taking a few static measurements and then concluding you need clubs 1” longer than standard and 2* more upright. Firstly there is no standard length, lie or loft in golf – take a look at the table below:

No one club is the same specification:

a Titleist is 1.5* more upright than a Mizuno
a Ping 0.25” shorter than a Callaway
and as for the lofts, it’s no wonder you’re a club shorter than your playing partner!

Also from this simple static fit how does it address the following:

What stiffness (frequency) of shaft best suits you?
What happens if "Stiff" is too stiff but "Regular" is too soft?
What weight of shaft best suits you, to give you the best contact and flight?
What balance point of shaft (i.e. where the weight is in the shaft) best suits your swing, tempo and release?
What head design and sole grind is best suited to your swing and future development?
What swingweight of club best suits you?( i.e. how heavy the head feels)

As you can see a simple 20 minute session cannot address these issues.

True custom fitting is working one-on-one with a trained custom clubmaker, building clubs to your exact specifications – If you need clubs between regular and stiff this isn’t a problem for a trained clubmaker.

The one-to-one clubfitting process offered by Clays Golf Centre uses the advanced technology of Fligtscope Kudu and qualified GCA Clubfitter or Qualified PGA Professional experience to answer all the questions above, and then to make the clubs to the highest standard. The fitting session is tailored to your requirements, and you will leave confident that you are giving your game the "best shot" at improvement - true value for money.

Repairs and Club Building at Clays Golf Centre

We also contains a custom-built repair workshop offering a full range of club alterations, including shaft alightment, loft/adjustments, reshafts, regrips, regrooves etc

We offer a full re-gripping service, which is avaiable while you wait, we stock all the latest grips including Golf Pride, Gripmaster, Lamkin and Wynn Grips.

We also stock a wide variety of club shafts, including Aldila, True Temper, Grafalloy. We can offer a free consultation to look at your existing clubs and alter the Lie if necessary.
